Learn How to Write a Poem
Poetry is a very personal form of creative writing. Here are some general guidelines that can be used to channel your creativity and imagination into beautiful poetry.
What?
The first thing to consider when writing a poem is what the poem will be about. Typically a poem concentrates on a subject or an emotion.
Subject - person, place, event, object, concept
Emotion - any feeling or mood that creates an atmosphere
Why?
The next thing to consider is why the poem is being written in the first place. What is your inspiration for writing poetry?
Examples:

- to convey a message
- to create a mood
How?
Now the format and structure of the poem has to be decided. How rigid do you want the poem to be? Should it have a regular meter or a rhyme scheme?
Options:
- free form
- structured
- rhyming
